The life of 23-year-old Tomasz Komenda (Piotr Trojan) is upended when he is arrested and charged with the rape and murder of a teenager. After being found guilty, he is sentenced to 25 years in prison, where he is regularly beaten and humiliated. After 18 years, police officer Remigiusz Korejwo (Dariusz Chojnacki) looks into the case and discovers that Komenda has been dealt an irreparable injustice. Based on real events, 25 Years of Innocence is an unflinching analysis of how justice can become perverted. This debut feature took home 15 awards across the festival circuit, including multiple wins at the Polish Film Awards and the Gdynia Polish Film Festival.
