After the bride and groom break up at the last minute, the wedding reception goes ahead – owing to its expensive cost. While the guests drink and make merry, simmering tensions emerge between the in-laws of the would-be newlyweds: well-to-do but buffoonish Małgorzata (Maja Ostaszewska) and Andrzej (Marcin Dorociński), and poor but dignified Wanda (Iza Kuna) and Tadeusz (Adam Woronowicz). Thus the stage is set for an explosion of resentments across the social and economic divide in this keenly-observed comedy of characters. The In-Laws took home the Audience Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival.
